Sounds good, we could do a pot luck or rent one of the back rooms at Ryan's or Golden Corral. Ryans I think was always reasonable, cause wife's cheap family does it sometimes.

I'll second that.... I attended a b-day party for one of my daughters friends there a couple yrs ago and was impressed with how big the meeting room was and how nice it actually was... (this was teh Ryans on soutside across from wally world.)
I vote for Ryans.

I could ask about the legion here in Belpre. It has tables and stuff and is roomy that way we can mingle and eat all at the same time. Cost is like $75, but that isn't to bad as long as we keep it clean afterwards.

I don't really see what the difference is between a pot luck and going to Ryan's or someplace like that. We'd have a room, you could get up and move around, plus and endless supply of drinks and food, with no clean up or set up. Not being a smart ass, I just report the news. Do you stand at a pot luck???

I dont know what the room is like at the golden corral... but the one at the ryans on the southside was really big (lots of room for everyone to stand/move around and talk before sitting down to eat...) So if its anything like that, I'd say go for it... (nothing to clean up, cheap, & you get you're own big room. :yup: )

My house could probably host something like this.... About 60 people (plus 1 Greg Woolard) would be the max (I've got a large family room downstairs, a pool table room, a family room upstairs... all really open space.) I talked this over with Brian a couple weeks ago as I thought about possibly having a Super Bowl party for the all movSlowers... But, if ya'll would rather do something at someones pad, I'll go ahead and offer up my homestead. Only problem is, the 19th would be out for me. This is one of the weekends I've been volunteered to work so thats a no-go for me. Something like the 12th would work, however.
Anyway, its out there now, so toss around that idea. :D
(I'm right outside of Mtta on Bramblewood Hts, for those of you that know where that is... not out in the sticks, but only about 3 min right outside of town on the way to Belpre...)

Sounds about right for that flaker... I can see it now... 75 people show up and his lights are out, doors are locked, and a note on the door says 'out of town... Make yourselves at home- in my front yard.' :laugh1:
Seriously though... It really all depends on the count of how many will show, my house is fairly large (lots of 'mingling' room(s) ), but if its something like 75 show up (counting wives, kids, greg woolards, etc..) then we really ought to think about something like a rental hall like someone metioned earlier...
If its around 60 total, then I think my pad will work... any more than that and it would get uncomfotable probably...)
Lets get a rough count and then we can all see if we need something like a banquet hall or something like that...
If you think your going to make it, just reply below with how many in your party...

just my two cents but it seems that weve gotten a little off track of the banquet thing.it dosent really matter to me,its really up to all of you as to what you want to do.i was just thinking about this being the "event" of the year kind of a thing, more than a meet and greet kind if thing.with having the awards and what not,and eventually door prizes and that kind of thing.i know their are enough people on here with connections to get some good stuff for this kind of thing.i realize this would be the first time for this and you have to start somewhere, but you have to start somewhere.with that being said i guess its up to you all what you want do.like i said before pot luck would be cool if no one wants the expense of eating out,but on the flip side you have the whole set up clean up,fix food as oppose to sit down eat b/s and leave.and let someone else clean up.just throwing this out,i guess its really up to you all what you want to do.

I agree with all that, Jeff. The only problem I see with something along those lines (an actual 'banquet' type event with awards, door prizes, etc...) is that we (probably) dont have the time for something like that to be set up being so late in the year. You're proabbly looking starting to plan an event like that around 6mos prior...

My vote is to just to book the room at the Corral... (it is a big room, right?) (in other words, we're not going to be right out there in the main part of the restaurant with everyone else(?))
If its not a actual ROOM, then I vote for booking Ryans on the southside (Despite the crys from the wussies that ryans made them sick LOL… The only reason I am suggesting Ryans is that I have been in that room, and it is very BIG, very SECLUDED and PRIVATE (lots of ‘mingling’ room and plenty of space as well…) If GC is a PRIVATE ROOM like this, then that’s great, if not, we should go with Ryans. Kieth, I wasn't aware you called anyone and said you couldn't make, nor did you take the time to post ahead of time. It takes 1 min out of your day to post, or make a call, so saying you don't have time is a blatant lie.
I could care less if you stayed home and picked your nose. You don't have to explain anything to me, nor this board.
If I say I'll be somewhere and realize I can't make it, I let people know, thats just common courtesy thats the ONLY point I am trying to make here.
Cory, I don't hate you, and I've NEVER said that, so please don't put words in my mouth. How many times have you said, "if I come into town, I'll be there". It gets old, it's either a yes or no answer.
I am just so tired of everyone having an excuse about everything. I know it's not just me, b/c I hear people saying the same thing to me, I am just voicing it here, which I'm sure will make me look like the bad guy.
Greg was right when he said people have good intentions, but never follow through. I have to admit I've done this in the past years back, but then I grew up.
Just ask James, Johnathon that I've bailed in the past, but over the past few years I've realized if I give someone my word about doing something, or saying I'll be there, it doesn't matter if it's work related, family related, or hanging out with friends, I'll be there. If I can't, I will let them know. I am sure they can all say w/o a doubt that if I've said I'll be there, I will, no questions.
Again, it's all about respect and common courtesy.

Kieth I like you, don't get me wrong, I think your a good guy, but when it comes to doing things nobody can count on you, this you have admitted yourself.
Again, don't say you didn't have time, you have a phone, you could have posted from that..so like I said, to say you don't have time is a lie. I post from the jon sometimes, lol.
I'm not going to argue anymore, I said my peace and letting it go. For the record, I am glad you spend time with your kids, they are very grateful to have a dad who does things with them, and of course family take priority.

Ok, my turn. This is the second time you have called Keith a liar. I know you run this website but that's enough of the name calling. Keith had his schedule turned upsidedown and at the end of the day the kids were tired and he didn't feel like going thru the hell that the dinner would have put him thru (those that have kids know exactly how this feels). If I were in his situation I wouldn't have come down either and now that I think about it I was in his situation and I didn't come down. If you think Keith is unreliable that's fine, let him deal with the label.
In the meantime please read this post, you should find it very informative.

I'm sorry, but I will have to stick to my original statement.
I consider a liar to be someone who habitually lies. I DO NOT put him in this category, but I do think he wasn't telling the truth when he said he didn't have time. So take that as you will. It was an excuse, one I hear far to often.
How many times have we all heard someone say, I didn't have "time" ?
Wow, making a post, or a phone call to cancel takes a whopping 1-2 mins. Just a sign of respect and consideration, I guess those days are gone and it's to much to ask.
I'd think in a 24hr day, 8 of which you are sleeping, leaves you with 16hrs. And during those 16hrs, you couldn't find 1-2 mins to say "I'm sorry I won't be able to attend" I don't buy it, I'm sorry.
I shouldn't get involved Greg and I try to stay neutral, but KIETH was one of the main reasons we had it yesterday, and he doesn't show ??
I could have brought a couple people, Jonathon could have brought Tiff, and if I go back, I bet several other people would have been better off to have it next week. No big deal, I didn't say a word, b/c if you all wanted it yesterday, then fine. I'm a team player. Then I get there, we even make an award for Kieth and he misses it. He doesn't even care enough to say, "hey guys, sorry something came up I can't make it" until AFTER the fact. I guess speaking up and saying that makes me the dick, then so be it. I'm just saying what others have told me personally.

I thought I elaborated to say that my kids had had enough that day and were acting up... It wasn't so much that I didn't have time (there... I guess I am a no good dead beat worthless liar) so much as it was just poor timing with what I had going on that day/afternoon.
Wow, making a post, or a phone call to cancel takes a whopping 1-2 mins. Just a sign of respect and consideration, I guess those days are gone and it's to much to ask.

He did call me about not making it, but obviously I failed to let everyone know(although I could swear that someone had asked about him and I had said he couldn`t make it.) I know how he feels about having fussy kids. Actually my kids are the main reason I don`t really hang out anymore. When push comes to shove, the kids are more important.
