I know this was posted in a thread but wanted to make a seperate thread for it. Looks like a few of us are heading down to KVD next friday. I have heard that Rolling thunder, myself and naste95 are going. The 3 of us are also going to grudge race each other, this should be a good time! This will be my first time at the track with the new combo so I have no idea what it will run.

So lets start hearing the excuses on why people can"t go.

I work both jobs on Fridays. Would love to go since I have never been to a track yet. I am available almost EVERY weekend if that would be possible. Would LOVE to go. There, that is my excuse.

I'm by the high school just off Stone road. Been here 2 1/2 years now. You probably saw me a bunch last summer, I was out just about every night tuning. Well, trying to tune anyways.

Not sure what you mean with "always" something wrong with it. Last year it ran like an OEM car, this year i've just had a few tuning gremlins I've been trying to address.

made a pass in the s2k, 9.3 rolling out like a grandma 80mph flat... dont wanna tear her up like i did my silver one lol

7 passes...best of 6.61 @104.6. nothing broke. all 7 passes in range of 6.75 to 6.61 and was doing pretty well on the tree as well if I do say so myself with the worst reaction time of 0.18 and 3 of the 7 passes in the 0.07 range.

Chattered the tires all the way through 1st, every pass. Glad to finally see some racing from other guys in this forum, but all I want to do is race my car!

I dont think they where prepping the track worth a dam... I noticed nobody seemed to be hookin outa the hole...That orange and green LX mustang with flames was deff the fastest of the night ! The best I seen it run was in the 5.80's...Thats quick!!

you have a damn nice and FAST street car. I'm glad we were able to actually race the last run(I now know I have to stage deeper). I think when they get the track prepped better for you and you can really get on it--it will be a nice tight race (what do you think)

transbrake launch: changed the rpm of the launch from 4600 (1.52-1.56 60 ft) to a 5000 launch (1.46) went to 5400 and no change. the car has a delay box but not used(all times set to 0.000)


And 03svtvenom congrats on your PR. I was a long distance runner for years and it feels good when you make a big difference like that--good job

Awsome meeting some new people last night.. Got back to the house Friday night and ran a quick comp test, everything looks good. We pulled the engine out today to fix a small problem with the flywheel. I am also going to borrow a good balancer from a certain 358 windsor and try it on the car.

We looked thinking it was a down cylinder but found the crank pulley wobbeling around like crazy and shaking the blower real bad so I just put it back in the trailer. Also found the flywheel was loose, last night we found that the ARP flywheel bolts had a shoulder on them and was hitting the sholder not letting the bolt tighten all the way against the flywheel. I made a pass (if you wanna call it a pass) I launched off idle and ran about half pedal and shut it down early cause I felt it vibrating. I ran 8.18..

Yeah, but didn't notice the vibration until I was on the track, then noticed the pulley in the pits.

Do you think it's just an F'd up balancer, or did it hurt the crank? I remember Al saying he could actually see the pulley/balancer move or "flex" if he pushed on the blower belt on his mustang......a lot of tension there.

If your planning on going back this Friday, its a "big bucks" race weekend..... box/no box race friday, 2 races scheduled for saturday. They have test/tune again on 7/9/10. They are still open for "Thursday night thunder" (street car night), don't know if they still frown on trailering the car for Thursdays, pretty stupid.

National Trails is still scheduled to be open Friday, 7/2/10. Large number of passes isn't likely, but I'm thinking about going anyway. Dad found a bigger truck for towing, I think he's wanting to try it out. Its a 2001 crew cab F350......it should get the job done.

Yeah, I just knew something wasn't right. We pulled the engine out Sat night and found a nova stuck in the passenger side header (had number 4 tube blocked clear off)!!! We threw the nova in the trash (are they good for anything else) and going to put the engine back in tonight.

He was running on motor for several passes, then bounced to a 100 shot I believe but had it dialed waaay back due to track condtions. I think it was only spraying a few seconds total over the run.

Not to bad, added a washer to the flywheel bolts cause of the shoulder on the ARP bolts, checked out the balancer issue, found my electricial issue. Car sounds good. I am gonna drive it around a little Thursday evening to test it and load it in the trailer.

Just an FYI to save you a few bucks, if you were planning on going to KVD friday to "test" even though it's a "race night" this week, they are holding a full test and tune tonight (thursday) open to all cars.....not just the regular street car thursday night.

Sounds good, just remember it takes a complete car to run at the track and be competitive. Meaning your going to need a top notch suspension setup to manage that power.

It ran about what I thought it would for my first good time at the track. I am blowing header gaskets like crazy so I am gonna have to work on that issue a litle.

on a ford prob more to do with the number of bolts and their arrangement that is not helping that issue. They make a o-ring style gasket to solve most of that design problem but requires machining a groove in the block (which sucks)

No, haven't tried that one. The problem is that my heads are ported out really big and my header is really small so there isn't much of a sealing surface.

Meh I would be willing to bet that it would work. I used it on the big block I had in my old Firechicken and never had a leaky header gasket, well once and that was because I forgot to tighten the bolt all the way...
